Kiwisaver for PAYE
Employees can join Kiwisaver and from 1st April 2009 are able to elect whether they contribute 2, 4 or 8% of their salary. This entitles you to:
- $1000 One off Government Contribution
- $1043 Annual Tax Credit paid into Kiwisaver account (as long as you are contributing $20 a week minimum)

From 1st April 2009 2% Tax Exempt Employer contribution which is on top of their salary

Kiwisaver for Self-employed or Not working
Those self employed or not working over 18 can still join Kiwisaver and get some of the benefits. Joining Kiwisaver entitles you to:
- $1000 One off Government Contribution
- $1043 Annual Tax Credit paid into Kiwisaver account (as long as you are contributing $20 a week minimum)
Although you are not eligible for employer contributions it makes sense to join at contribute at least $20 a week, there are ways to restructure if you are currently a sole trader to take advantage of the Kiwisaver rules - speak to us.
Kiwisaver for Children
Children can take advantage of Kiwisaver and join and recieve an initial benefit and need not make any initial or further contributions. Children are eligible for the following:
- $1000 One off Government Contribution
